As well as stalls selling a wide variety of handmade items produced by our local creative community, there will be a Children’s Easter Bonnet decorating workshop, costing just £2.50 for bonnet and decorating materials. The Fair is organised by LOTT, the Leamington Old Town Team, and supported by South Leamington Community Forum. LOTT is carrying on with the support for the regeneration of Old Town, which was begun after Mary Portas grant in 2012. The last of this money was spent in 2016.
The Lott Bazaar, 97 Clemens Street, is the base of the team. The Bazaar is a community craft shop, which besides selling craft work of all types produced by local artists and traders, organises workshops and projects. It even offers easels to rent by would-be artists. Another important area of activity for the LOTT team is the provision of advice to help new business starting up in Old Town: the three members of the Team have years of business and legal experience. They also organise interesting events in the heart of the community to attract people to the area, so they can see the recent changes. One such event is the Spring Fair on 25th March, then on 23rd and 24th June the Canal Festival is being revived, to which narrow boat owners and traders have been invited. Grand plans include the closure of Clemens Street to provide space for market stalls, live entertainment and even a hog roast.
