The Awards ceremony took place in Victoria House on July 12th, a packed room on a warm evening. 14 Awards were presented by Councillor Heather Carver, Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa, following a welcome from Councillor Stephen Cross, Chairman of Warwick District Council, and Sidney Syson, Chairman of the Leamington Society.
Our thanks go to Andrew Salter, RIBA, of Acanthus Clews Architects, Banbury for leading the assessor team of Councillor Caroline Evetts (past RLS Mayor), Robert Dawson (Assistant Conservation Officer, WDC, and Richard Ward RIBA and Richard Ashworth of the Leamington Society. And thanks also for the many submissions from members and others.
We are also grateful to Chiltern Railways for their generous sponsorship, and the support we received from Warwick District Council and Royal Leamington Spa Town Council. Martin Paxton took the pictures you can see below. And of course there are many behind the scenes activities making such an evening happen; thanks to Archie Pitts, Marianne Pitts and Richard Ashworth for these.
As is now traditional the awards covered a wonderfully eclectic range from the skateboard park in Victoria Park to the headquarters of international company Tata Technologies. Styles varying from cast iron railings to super ecological Vitsoe headquarters. These single pictures barely do justice, but if you click on the links you will find many more details.
