Andrew Mobbs is boycotting the public meeting called by our MP Matt Western and accuses him of a lack of consideration and appreciation. In one respect he is being economical with the truth:
He has repeatedly claimed (in this paper and elsewhere) that the office move will ” … provide a larger new car park for one in danger of imminent closure from concrete cancer”. This is not the case. The replacement car park will require separate and additional funding of £8.5 Million and could therefore be built independently, well before the demolition of the Covent Garden multi story, which currently supplies 30% of our town centre parking and cannot be missed.
Please would WDC consider rescheduling their plans in order to give local workers, shoppers and visitors consistently accessible parking in the town centre
